Can You Boost Your Brainpower?

Scientific studies have proven that you can boost your brainpower and your happiness and help prevent disorders associated with aging, such as Alzheimer’s disease. The brain is a complex organ that the Lord created, and is able to create new connections between nerve cells when it is properly stimulated.

Whether you are a Generation X'er, a baby boomer, or an octogenarian, the following tips can help boost your mental activity and increase your intelligence:

1. Keep memorizing. A good memory has been showing in studies to slow down mental aging. Start small by memorizing your shopping list or your daily schedule, then a poem, then a musical instrument or a new language. I have been memorizing scriptures from the Bible which is challenging to me.

2. Get a hobby. Gardening, bird watching, collecting….taking on a new hobby is good for mental stimulation as well as your overall mood. Find activities your really enjoy and have fun. It will provide both an escape and a passion

Challenge yourself. One enemy of mental sharpness is that we fall into overly rigid, daily patterns, that is having the same routine nearly every day. Those patterns promote mental passivity. Try mixing up things a bit. Try playing around with your daily schedule at least. Too much regimen can dull the senses. (That does not happen in Real Estate!)
