Got Cash?
Won't do you much good having cash on the Tollways right now! The North Texas Tollway Authority has completed its transition to a cashless toll system December 11th with the conversion of the Dallas North Tollway, Addison Airport Toll Tunnel and Mountain Creek Lake Bridge. Did you get caught in the change of a cashless drive to work? We've always had a Toll Tag on our cars and would be utterly useless if I had to have cash since I seldom carry any, but I don’t travel the Tollway very often as some of you do.
Motorists without TollTags instead will be billed later at the higher rate with ZipCash, the NTTA’s pay-by-invoice option. That will get expensive after a while.
I was wondering why the switch to cashless tolling was done? NTTA states that “it will bring our region reduced congestion, improved safety and enhanced air quality through the free flow of traffic and the elimination of stopping and starting and weaving of toll booths.” Interesting!
If you don’t have a Toll Tag, drivers can open TollTag accounts online at www.NTTA.org, over the phone at 972-818-6882 or by visiting the NTTA or a nearby TollTag partner location.
Think I’ll keep my tag and pay for $40 whenever it runs out.
