Did Your Tax Value Increase This Year?

Did you fight your appraisal on your house this year? The Appraisal District did come out with the values later this year. There was a very short time period to protest. I heard from a lot of you that were wondering how in the world could your value increase! I told most of you that with the problems the Cities are suffering with less sales tax and other shortages in their budgets, I really didn’t expect many of you to be successful in getting your values down. Several of you have let me know that you were successful.

With all the Media screaming about how bad the Real Estate Market is, it is surprising that our values would be up! But in some areas with so few houses that have sold and with the better houses selling for a better price, it was hard to justify a lower value and the small increase seemed appropriate. Mostly, the Market is flat without a small increase in value, but the Cities need higher values for more tax revenue.
