Is There A Silver Lining in a Layoff?
Could you ever find good in being caught in a layoff? Perhaps! A layoff would feel better if we would prepare for it by having a nice savings account or nest egg for just such happenings. We learn in Real Estate that some months are just not that special, so we have to plan for an uneven income for those months when our production is not enough to cover overhead. But that is another story.
Was talking with someone who was laid off and she was really using her time profitably she thought, doing projects around the house like cleaning out closets and pantries and garages that you never have time to do. Visiting with people you haven’t seen or are sick and need that visit. Having the weekends off because you did your shopping and cleaning and errands during the week, and now it is time for family and husband and fun things to do you never have time to do!
Should we so dependent on that second income that we couldn't reduce the stress in our life and provide more time to just live if we could go back to having one income? Is that a lesson we could learn from this lean time we are going through? I am seeing both in the Real Estate market. Some are moving down, tightening up and doing without those extra “luxuries” but I have others that feel this is the opportunity they have been waiting for to get that dream house they have always wanted and can now afford.
If you would like to visit with us about your possible goals for the future, please feel free to set an appointment with us and we would be happy to go over some options that we know about that might fit you.
