The Changing Season!
Maybe it has been hard for us to be thankful in this New World we are living in right now, but we probably need to stop and thank the Lord for what we do have and how blessed we are.
I got so ticked at the comic strip of Heart of the City in which Heart says “Mom says the economy is in the toilet, so we can’t just buy anything we want anymore… So I said to Mom, ‘When did we ever do THAT?! You’re ALWAYS telling me what I can’t have!’ Her friend answers Heart, ‘Yeah. I guess we were spoiled and we didn’t even know it.’” I guess that is the way we should feel: We have been spoiled.
We can say that in the past:
We have survived the Great Depression in the 30’s,
We survived the gas shortages in the 70’s,
We survived 20% interest rates in the early 80’s (that’s when I got my Real Estate license when interest rates were 21%! But we still sold homes!),
We have survived a Real Estate collapse in the late 80’s,
We even survived the wholesale collapse of an entire industry with the Tech “Wreck!”
The Bible says He will provide a way of escape that we may be able to bear it. One door opens and another closes. Just don’t concentrate on the one that closed!
